Our Mission
Rock Family Church is excited to partner with families as they raise kids that learn to love God, connect with others and contribute to changing the world!
We are committed to teaching God’s Word to kids in a captivating and creative way while feeling valued and loved.
“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
What To Expect On Sunday Mornings
Just inside the lobby you will see our check-in system. One of our friendly check-in staff will greet you and your kid(s) and check them into class using our secure, computerized check-in system. We will print a customized nametag just for them and give you a claim ticket authorizing only you to pick them. Please let us know during check-in if your child has any allergies or special needs. Please note that for the safety of your children you MUST show the ticket when you pick up your children.
You will escort your kids to their assigned classroom (they will give you a map so you can find your way around) and meet their trained, loving teacher who absolutely loves kids! You can then head to the main service to enjoy the worship and teaching.
If your child needs you during service, a number will appear on the top right-hand side of the screen on stage. Each family will have one number, so in case you have multiple children the first half will indicate which child needs you. For instance NUR-Z4F would be Nursery and PRE-Z4F would be Preschool.
Everyone who works with our youth and children at Rock Family Church has passed a thorough background check. Safety is important to us.
Rock Nursery (0-23 Months)
Our nursery is staffed with professional, caring adults who provide a safe and secure environment conducive to your child’s physical, social, and spiritual growth.
We have taken great care to prepare our Nursery rooms to be the best environment for your infant with age-appropriate toys, and an opportunity to interact with others.
Christ’s love for children is demonstrated by providing a safe and clean environment in which the children can interact with the adult caregivers and each other. Rock Family Church considers the nursery to be an important area of ministry, both to the parent and the child.
Rock Preschool (2 yrs–5 Yrs)
These classes are held in Little Bigg Town which offers many themed rooms, a soft play room to climb safely, a large sand room, and many o ther wonderful and fun areas.
The children are dropped off into a large group area separated by age (2s and 3s are kept separate from the 4s and 5s the entire service.)
After the first fifteen minutes they are then put into small groups and rotate through center-themed classes to include a lesson, craft, snack, interactive game and a themed room. We have several Sundays where the craft might be substituted with Play-Doh or the Sand Room (see below) or other fun activities. We present Biblical learning materials with a hands-on approach.
The first Sunday of each month is Sand Sunday and the children are taken in small groups to explore if they choose—please dress them appropriately and remind them what shoes they are wearing since they will be taken off during this time.
Just before service is dismissed, the children are brought back to the large group area for their age so that they are ready to be picked up. Caution: They might not want to go home.
Tips And Reminders For Parents
Arrive 15 minutes before the beginning of the service so that you can enjoy the entire service. It takes a few minutes to check your children in and drop them off.
Please label your child’s belongings before you arrive (bottles, pacifiers, etc) and then ask for an “asset tag” for the diaper bag.
To ensure the health of children and volunteers, we ask that sick children not attend Nursery or Preschool.
Safety and security are of the utmost importance to us. You MUST have the security tag with you to pick up your children after the service.
You are welcome to visit your child’s room at any time. To enter the room to observe or comfort your child please ask the teacher. While in the room we ask that you not interact with any child other than your own.
Where Does Kindergarten Go?
Since this is often a very transitional year, we allow you and your child to choose if your Kindergartener would prefer to be in Preschool or go to Rock Kids.
Many times we see them staying in Preschool until January and then trying Rock Kids once they are more accustomed to being in a classroom and playing large group games.
There are many factors including birth order, personality and maturity which make up this decision and there is no one better than you to decide.
