BAPTISM

What is baptism?

Once someone has given their life to the Lord and accept the free gift of Salvation through Jesus, the next step is to publicly declare their life belongs to the Lord. We do this through Baptism.

Baptism is a symbolic act of being submerged in water. It’s symbolic in a few ways:

  1. Baptism is representative of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Going in to the water symbolizes dying to the old self, and emerging represents our new life in Christ.

  2. It also symbolizes purification from sin. Washing away any sins and impurities and a representing a fresh start or new beginning.

  3. Baptism serves as a way for us to publicly declare our faith in Christ. It is not a means to accept salvation, but to show that we have.

  4. Jesus commands us in Matthew 28, to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
